A first look at Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s practical and chic new bags and sunglasses
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has noticed a change in her style since entering her thirties and becoming a mother. The businesswoman no longer has the time she once devoted to getting ready. She also has no fondness for frivolous pieces that don’t work hard for her. The words “investment” and “streamlined” come up repeatedly during our conversation, with a sprinkling of “minimal” and “muted” for good measure. She’s a woman who knows what works for her — and, more importantly, what works for other women who wear, as she puts it, “many hats.”
The collaboration between Huntington-Whiteley and the Florentine luxury accessories brand Giaborghini exemplifies the practical and chic style she has perfected. Now in her third season, the model-turned-designer has found her groove and launched two new categories: sunglasses and tote, encompassing both handbags and tech accessories. If you thought you’d never see Rosie parking her beloved Jodie for a belt bag and AirPods holder, think again. Most of the time, she says, you’ll find her with her keys hanging from a cord and her iPhone, card and lipstick in her hand.
“I mean, there was a time in my life where I literally took everything but the kitchen sink with me,” she laughs. “Now I want the bare minimum; I like the feeling of being mobile and agile. Rosie’s favorite piece for the new season is the square wooden clutch in travertine, a luxurious, marbled material reminiscent of the interiors of her Los Angeles home, with a gold chain strap that can be wrapped around the wrist to serve as a jewel. It thrilled the kids at a recent dinner party, which at this point in Rosie’s life is more important than any influencer’s stamp of approval.
