Greenbrier County Sheriff nominated for new West Virginia First Responder Honorary Council

GREENBRIER, WV (WVNS) – In the fall of 2021, the WV Legislature passed SB 3027, which established the Honorary First Responders Council.
The council is made up of firefighters, fire chiefs, law enforcement officials, emergency medical service personnel, medical officials and other first responders. It is the board members who are qualified to decide whether the actions of all first responders reach the level of being beyond the call of duty.
The Medal of Valor will be awarded by the Board of Directors to a first responder from West Virginia whose service has been excellent.
Senator Stephen Baldwin appointed Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan to the new West Virginia First Responder Honor Council earlier this fall.
“Sheriff Sloan is a respected law enforcement professional who does his job effectively. He will be a wonderful representative of our region on the new Honorary Council, ”said Baldwin.
Sheriff Sloan’s appointment to the Honorary Council was confirmed upon the appointment of Senator Baldwin. It will serve until the fall of 2024.
