NC candidates for General Assembly in Raleigh, Durham, Orange

RALEIGH
Which bills become state law in North Carolina depends on which party sits in the executive mansion and has a majority in the General Assembly. Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper is one year into his second term and is not running for office this year. However, each of the 170 state legislators who send him legislation to sign or veto is up for a vote this year.
After being redrawn and passed by the legislature and the courts, new maps for the 2022 legislative elections are drawn up. You can look up your electoral district on the State Board of Elections website here: https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/.
The primary takes place on May 17 and the winners go to the November general election. In North Carolina, unaffiliated voters can choose either party’s ballot in the primary or an unaffiliated ballot if there is one.
Here’s who has filed so far to run in the new State House and Senate districts that represent residents of Wake, Durham and Orange counties. Applications close Friday at noon.
