Primus to bring A TRIBUTE TO KINGS Tour to North Charleston PAC
Primus has announced a full 46-date coast-to-coast extension of its hugely popular “A Tribute To Kings” tour, paying homage to progressive rock legends, Rush. âA Tribute To Kingsâ will see the Bay Area trio perform Rush’s 1977 album âA Farewell To Kingsâ in its entirety, after a set of their own music. As bassist Les Claypool said Rolling stone, the tour is to pay tribute to a group that has inspired him so much over the years.
The tour will take place at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 6, 2022. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 17 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.com and at the North Charleston Coliseum early box office.
âHemispheres was my first gig,â Claypool said, referring to the album and Rush’s 1978 tour. âWe originally always joked about doing Hemispheres⦠but we got together. installed on Kings because A) it was the first Rush record I have ever heard and B) it contains ‘Cygnus X-1’, which has always been my favorite Rush track. It seems like a good piece to tackle; 2112 seemed a bit obvious. “
The announcement follows the massive success of the first leg of ‘A Tribute To Kings’, which has been delayed for a long time due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is just the latest in a long line of Rush-related milestones for Primus, which debuted as its Musical Heroes in 1992.
âGeddy, Alex and Neil had been superheroes to Larry, Herb and I in our teens,â Claypool recalls, âso when we all became friends on a tour together in the early ’90s, we were pretty much thrilled; partly because of the non-postman musical geek, but mostly because the three guys we had admired so much from afar, turned out to be really great humans, down to earth, and like us, a bit eccentric . “
Starting in Oklahoma City before touring the United States, the second stop of “A Tribute To Kings” will also feature the first stops of the tour in Canada, starting with two dates in Toronto on May 13th and 14th. Rush was formed in Toronto in 1968. The rematch will also feature special guests, Battles, Black Mountain and The Black Angels.
A special presale, including VIP upgrade options, goes on sale at 10:00 a.m. local time today (12/14). Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday, December 17 at 10 a.m. local time. For more information on ticketing and the show, please visit www.primusville.com/tour
