Recall a Raleigh skyscraper to support NC Special Olympics
If you’ve ever wanted to fulfill Spider-Man’s dreams of running up and down a tall building, there’s a charity opportunity to do it in Raleigh this fall.
Special Olympics North Carolina is partnering with Over the Edge, an international abseiling company, to give people the opportunity to descend a 30-story building in downtown Raleigh and raise money for Special Olympics.
The building is the Wells Fargo Capitol Center at 150 Fayetteville St. To schedule an encore time on Saturday, October 1, register at tinyurl.com/mrrm9bkk
Reminders will be scheduled every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In order to reach a fundraising goal of $100,000, participants must raise at least $1,000.
A team of two people can share a fundraiser totaling $2,000. For example, one member can contribute $1,500 and the other $500.
The public can donate to an individual or participate in a corporate team fundraiser.
Funds from the abseiling will support Special Olympics North Carolina, which offers training and competition in 20 Olympic-type sports for people with developmental disabilities, including health and wellness programs.
Participants wishing to abseil must be at least 14 years old and weigh between 100 and 300 pounds.
Those who do not meet these conditions and still wish to participate are invited to contact Leslie Moyar at [email protected]
