Voters in Huntington will choose board and school committee members in special municipal elections on Tuesday

HUNTINGTON — A special election to fill vacancies on the board and school select committee is being held Tuesday, coinciding with the state’s primary, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Stanton Hall, 26 Russell Road.
Using a separate ballot, voters will be asked to fill a position on the board of directors until June 30, 2023 and a position on the school committee until June 30, 2024.
The only name on the ballot is William Hathaway of Pisgah Road, who is seeking a seat on the board, according to City Clerk Linda Hamlin.
Although no names are listed for the school board, Lisa D. Goding of Montgomery Road announced that she was interested in the position, which serves as the city’s representative on the Gateway Regional School Board, as a write-in candidate. .
A resident for 15 years, Goding has a daughter in middle school and a son at Littleville Elementary School. She served on the Gateway Regional School District SPED Parent Advisory Council and previously served on the Littleville Elementary School PTO.
Goding is also program director for It Takes a Village, which provides support to rural families during the postpartum period.
“This city and this school means the world to me and I am passionate about making our district the best it can be,” Goding wrote in a Facebook community post.
