West Virginia Candidate Documents Filing Begins Monday | West Virginia News
CHARLESTON, West Virginia (AP) – Candidates considering running in West Virginia’s May 10 primary can file their documents starting Monday, Secretary of State Mac Warner said.
The certificate of announcement can be filed with the secretary of state’s office or the county clerk’s office, depending on the office being sought. Documents and application fees must be submitted by January 29 at midnight.
Documents should be filed with the Secretary of State’s office for candidates seeking federal, state, legislative and judicial positions other than magistrates, and for those running for office in more than one county. All other candidates file their files with their respective county clerk’s office.
Offices on the ballot this year include US House; State Senate and House of Delegates; departmental commissions; county education councils; supervisors of conservation districts; Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District; executive committees of political parties for state, congressional, delegate, senator and county districts; and any vacancy for unexpired terms that must be filled.
